About the Downtown Tucson Mural Walking Route

Where are the murals in downtown Tucson?

Most of downtown Tucson's large-scale murals sit in a tight grid bounded by Congress Street, Broadway Boulevard, 5th Avenue, and 6th Avenue. The route on this map covers all 12 tour stops within that grid, plus the Train Station triptych a few blocks north on Toole Avenue. Walking from end to end is about 1 mile on flat downtown sidewalks.

How long is the mural walking route?

The full route is about 1 mile. At a relaxed pace with stops to look at each mural and read the artist plaques, expect 90 minutes. Walking continuously without stopping takes around 25 minutes. The route starts at Hotel Congress (311 E Congress St) and ends at the Train Station (400 N Toole Ave).

Is the route self-guided or do I need a tour?

You can absolutely walk it yourself with this map. What you will miss is the artist context: who painted each wall, what drove them, and the cultural details hidden inside each composition. The guided tour is built to fill that in. Both options use the same route, the same 12 stops, and the same meeting point at Hotel Congress.

Where can I park?

Metered street parking and several public garages are within a short walk of Hotel Congress. The Pennington Street garage and Centro Garage on Church Avenue are the closest covered options. Street parking on Congress and 6th Avenue is usually available before 10 AM on weekdays.
